Expanded the explorer walkthrough with a two-source comparison and a verification record readers can reproduce later.

Read the editorial and evidence standards

1. Start with the official address

Use the official GCAT contract address published by the GloveCat website and documentation. Compare every character before adding the token, approving a spender, or signing a swap. Names, symbols, icons, and search results can be copied by another contract.

2. Confirm the network and source

The active deployment is on Base mainnet, chain ID 8453. On Basescan, confirm that the address matches, the contract source is verified, and the token reports the expected name, symbol, decimals, and fixed supply. A verified contract is readable evidence; it is not a guarantee that every transaction is safe.

3. Check the official pair

The registered public route is the Aerodrome Classic Volatile WETH/GCAT pair. Compare the pair address with the published value before reviewing a quote. A different pool can have different liquidity, pricing, or token contracts.

4. Verify the important contract details

Do not rely on screenshots of explorer pages. Open the explorer independently and check the current contract state.

  • Read totalSupply and decimals directly from the token contract.
  • Confirm the registered pair matches the official WETH/GCAT pair.
  • Confirm the token fee rules are 0% for buys and fixed 1% for sells.
  • Review the active Safe and published administration evidence in the documentation.

5. Use a two-source comparison

Do not let one page supply both the claim and its proof. Start from the official site to obtain the expected address, then type basescan.org independently and paste the complete address into the explorer. Confirm the explorer page is on Base, not another EVM network, and compare the contract creator, verified source, token name, symbol, decimals, total supply, and important linked addresses with the published deployment record.

For the trading pair, open the pair address directly and inspect both token sides. The WETH side and GCAT side must point to the expected contracts, and the pair address must match the address registered by the GCAT contract. For staking and NFTs, repeat the same process at their own addresses. A match on the GCAT token alone does not authenticate a staking spender, NFT collection, router, or pair.

6. Keep a small verification record

Before a material transaction, record the date and time, Base block number, full contract and pair addresses, the explorer URLs you opened, and the intended spender. If the action uses live readiness data, also record observedAt and validUntil from the public-status response. This creates a compact audit trail that can be compared with the mined transaction later.

The record is especially useful when a wallet truncates addresses or a DEX changes routes between quote and execution. If any value changes unexpectedly, stop and restart from an independently reached official source. Do not continue merely because the token symbol and artwork look familiar.

7. Stay safe after verification

Verification reduces address-substitution risk, but it does not remove price, liquidity, approval, phishing, or wallet risks. Simulate or review the transaction, limit allowances, reject unexpected signature requests, and keep the seed phrase offline.

Sources and evidence

Dated transactions prove historical events; balances, ownership, readiness, and quotes must be checked again when used.
